A quick tutorial

In this tutorial, we will show you how to use our MDB-USB Interface or MDB Pi Hat to connect to the bus and sniff the data.

By leveraging the powerful MDB Toolchest Software, you can record and store the data that is being shared between your VMC (Vending Machine Controller) and the peripherals connected to the MDB bus. Stay with us and learn how to sniff MDB bus data with our devices!

This process is essential for anyone needing to diagnose issues or ensure smooth communication between the VMC and peripherals. The MDB Sniffing mode is particularly useful for troubleshooting and optimizing the performance of vending machines.

What You Will Learn
Configuration
To use your interface in Sniffing Mode, configure your jumpers according to our video, so the interface is powered through the USB port.
For master applications where the interface will drive the peripherals, you will need an additional power supply.
Connecting
Connect your interface to your computer using a USB Type A to Type B cable.
Next, open the MDB Toolchest Software and connect to the interface via the top left corner. Once connected, attach your MDB connector to any of the MDB ports on the interface.
Monitoring
The MDB Toolchest will immediately begin displaying the data present in the MDB bus, allowing you to monitor and record the transactions and communications.
What You Will Need

MDB-USB Interface or MDB Pi Hat;

Computer with MDB Toolchest Software installed;

USB Type A to Type B cable;

Active bus connecting a VMC to peripherals.
