How to Properly Update Your Interfaceʼs Firmware

Get ready to learn how to update your interface’s firmware properly. It’s a straightforward and quick process, and there are a couple of different methods to accomplish it. First, you need to download our MDB Toolchest Software.

 

The MDB Toolchest is a versatile Java-based software application, serving as an invaluable tool for diagnosing, simulating, and testing MDB peripherals or VMCs. When paired with any of our MDB-USB Interfaces, this powerful software can accurately capture and decode MDB communications, ensuring precise and efficient troubleshooting and analysis of your vending machine systems.

 

This firmware update process ensures that your device operates with the latest features and improvements, enhancing performance and compatibility with other devices. Regular updates are crucial for maintaining the security and functionality of your interface, preventing potential issues, and keeping your system running smoothly.

What You Will Learn
Preparation
Once you have the MDB Toolchest software ready, ensure that the device you want to upgrade has a minimum version of 1.3.0.0.
If it doesn’t, you need physical access to the board to configure a jumper into the firmware update position (refer to the video on our documentation page).
Proccess
Next, connect your interface to your computer using a USB cable and click CONNECT on the MDB Toolchest software. Then, navigate to DEVICE on the top menu and select FIRMWARE UPDATE. Click START. After a few seconds, a new option will appear showing “UPDATE TO LATEST VERSION.” Click it to start updating and then click DONE when it’s finished.
Completion
If you disconnect and then reconnect your interface, you should see the latest version installed on your product displayed at the bottom of the MDB Toolchest software.
